The Founder

Before founding her own firm, Gohar Abelian pursued a background in Psychology, driven by her passion for understanding people. That curiosity quickly evolved into a calling for legal advocacy — especially after seeing firsthand how vulnerable people could be taken advantage of. Inspired by her father and the injustices he experienced, Gohar earned her J.D. from Southwestern Law School and gained experience working with some of the top personal injury lawyers in Los Angeles. She soon realized that in order to serve clients with the care and attention they deserved, she would need to do things differently. That's when she launched Abelian Law Firm — a practice built on grit, empathy, and the belief that legal support should be both powerful and personal.

Gohar's journey into law was shaped by a deep desire to level the playing field for those who often can't defend themselves. After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), she set her sights on a legal career that would blend intellectual rigor with genuine human compassion. At Southwestern Law School, she was selected for the school's rigorous SCALE program — an accelerated, full-time juris doctor track designed for highly motivated students. Through SCALE, Gohar completed her law degree in just two years, an accomplishment that reflects both her discipline and her drive to start advocating for clients as quickly as possible.

Today, Gohar remains closely connected to the institution that shaped her legal foundation. She serves on the Board of Southwestern Law School, where she helps guide the next generation of attorneys and gives back to the community that helped launch her career. Her ongoing involvement with the school reflects a core belief: that the legal profession is strongest when experienced lawyers mentor, support, and open doors for those coming up behind them.
